Busy day at work, not surprising, but I managed to get away slightly early, we're heading to a friends back at lake Brunner on the West Coast for the weekend.

We stopped on the way to observe the keas in Arthurs Pass, fabulously entertaining. The only mountain parrot in the world, very inquisitive, and dwindling numbers. My favourite bird! Learn more about them here. Then onto the lake, arriving at sunset.

Beautiful night and we cycled around the lake edge. Our friends arrived, then Nick and I proceeded to stay up until the very wee hours of the morning discussing the problems of New Zealand, with a wine as you do ...
