Yesterday's guardaparque

With their green uniform and wide brimmed hats the park rangers look after our local forests and parks. All year around, chatting up the tourists in high summer and struggling through winter snowdrifts to confront disaster with our flora and fauna. A tough job, even with today’s GPS and radio communication, and even if some have changed the saddle for motor boats and four wheel drive vehicles. But it wasn’t always that simple: today’s blip shows what a ranger’s office would have looked like not so long ago and is a shot of an exhibit in the town’s Museum of the Early Settlers.
