The Majestic flight of the Heron

Early this morning on my walk I watched this young Heron playing peek-a-boo with me in the bushes. He just was not in the mood to be photographed. He left our little game to fly across the pond for safer ground. The flight of these birds is so majestic to watch. They take to the sky with slow, deep wing beats, with their long neck curved into an S shape and their head hunched back upon the shoulder. This photo was the best I could do with a cell phone. It is hard to take a serious exercise walk with a big camera hanging around your neck. So many times I miss great shots. Regardless, I was very blessed to see lots of wildlife on my wonderful walk this morning.
