The Violin Maker, Newbury.

I had a Blipmeet with my very good friend lynne929 today in Newbury. She was able to get us an invite to the workshop of Philip Brown, a Violin Maker. It was a fascinating experience.

We were shown into the showroom- so many beautiful instruments- violins, cellos, lutes and a large selection of bows. We then made our way upstairs to the workshop.

In the collage you can see the horsehair used for the bows ( two colours- the dark is more coarse and cheaper and used for double bass bows and the white at £350 is used mainly for violin bows).
