Cloch Lighthouse

One of my favourite blip locations, the Cloch Lighthouse continually offers something new every time I look at it.

Today we have had some typical autumnal weather, beautiful sunshine one minute, and then rain. Managed this shot this afternoon when we had the sunshine.

The light at the 'Clogh' was built in 1795-7 by John Clarkson (engineer); Kermack and Gall built the tower while Smith and Stevenson installed the (oil) lantern which was first lit on 11 August 1797.

Today, the light is fully automated and unmanned. The main light has been replaced by a light on a pole outside the lantern room.

Bought Yotam Ottolenghi's new cookery book 'Plenty More' yesterday so planning to make a couple of the recipes today; Red Onions with Walnut Salsa and Caramalised Brandy Pears and Fennel Seed Crackers.
