at home with an Ivysaurus

Advanced cutlery

Since Ivy has been trying to use a big fork for a while (and being a bit of a danger to both herself and everyone round her) I ordered her her own set of metal cutlery, that even came with a knife. She was very impressed. Also in the post was an amazing musical lamaze octopus that my friend Irish Sam from university sent her. He's someone I have done a completly terrible job of keeping in touch with, so it was super sweet of him to send Ivy anything, yet alone something so cool. Ivy was intrequed by it's musical tenticles, but hasn't been able to make a sound herself from them yet. She did keep wandering back to it to try again though- I think she'll crack it soon.

Ivy skyped Granny Grant and Pops this morning, she did hang up on them once, but she was apparently enjoying the conversation even though she didn't seem to be paying that much attention at the end, because when they were gone she was decidedly unhappy and keep pointing at the screen and howling.

She didn't sleep well at all last night (she's cut another new tooth- top left outside incisor this time) so her early morning nap was a wrap one on Euan and then she took a big long 11am nap, which she hasn't done for ages.

I took her to softplay to burn off some energy after she woke up. She was hilarious, she kept climbing up the slope into the ball pit, then throwing herself down so she rolled over and over and went splat on the rather firm crashmat. She's mad- i'm very proud of how tough she is though. I think it's all the months of telling her she's okay when she falls down and recenty making her come under her own steam for a comforting cuddle if she thinks she needs one (she usually decides it's not worth the effort). I was very proud watching her trying to run about on a bouncy castle, she kept falling over and then getting straight back up.

The afternoon didn't go so well- her teeth were bothering her and she was tired but wouldn't nap (not even a wrap nap) Her nose is really runny recently, so everyone ended up with vaguly soggy patches. She did cheer up for spells of time, like after she had a drink of water so started bouncing on her bottom on a crash matt- but mostly it was a soggy, snotty afternoon. Right before dinner she was apopletic, after playing in a saucepan of water she was given to distract her left her cold and wet, so I let her have a comfort breastfeed with a quick boobie nap.

Euan, the big softie, got her rice pudding for dinner to cheer her up (and because he wanted some too). She absoloutly would not believe him he was not trying to do something terrible to her by trying to put it in her mouth and was fighting and howling like she used to do when we couldn't get her to take any extra milk. Then when she tried it she was like 'oh yes, this is good, nom nom nom'

Hoping for an easier night tonight, she's already been awake once- altough she did have the good grace to wait till after Dr who had finished.
