Ghost Ship, West Pier

Took Lola for a walk on the West Pier in Dún Laoghaire for a change, the quieter opposite to the larger, more popular East Pier. I hadn't expected to find anything dramatic to photograph, but when I stepped through one of those little gaps in the wall, ventured down the steps and looked along the length of the sloping stones, there was drama of a kind: in the geometry, the way the pier juts and elbows the sea. This is accentuated because the West Pier is presumably less storm-battered than the East, so they haven't needed to brace the length of structure with a jumble of huge boulders. Looking the other way, towards the shore, the skyline presented its own looming drama.
