Sgeir Rathaid North Cardinal

Another day at work & many more crossings of Oban Bay driving the wee ferry between the Marina on the Isle of Kerrera & Oban town.

This is the north cardinal for the locally known 'Scrat' rocks. For the non-mariners amongst you, the buoy warns shipping to stay to the north because a dangerous reef lies just to the south. This reef has claimed at least four yachts & one tall ship this summer - thankfully none were badly damaged and nobody was injured.

I like to use it as a waypoint in poor light & weather as I cross the bay back to the island.
