The Edge of the Wold

Last of the year?

This tattily defiant peacock butterfly was feeding on the nectar of ivy flowers as the sun made a showing for an hour or two around lunchtime. Ivy really comes into its own at this time of the year when there is so little else flowering, it hums with late season hoverflies, bees and wasps. Will this be the last butterfly in our garden this year? There are still a few red admirals and speckled woods about, so another warm day could bring them out.

Otherwise a quiet day, we are both still fighting off colds, and so we haven't ventured far, apart from to take Gus out. We managed to arrive at the Bob In Cafe just after it shut. I do need an early night tonight, so forgive me if I don't comment much.

Earlier this evening I posted another backblip from our holiday, this one shows Wifie going down the tube.
