Wry in Rye

While having a couple of days' break in Rye with friends, we are enjoying wandering around the town enjoying the quaintly higgledy piggledy old houses, stony streets and fascinating profusion of unusual little shops. There are blips in every direction, but I couldn't resist this wry old sign in Rye.

We are staying in a lovely old hotel, the Hope Anchor, perched high above the harbour with a wonderful view across Romney Marsh. Our room has its own old mariner's telescope that is great for taking a closer look at the boats far below.

With the Tesla's remaining range down to 66 miles, I was considering a trip to Hastings this afternoon, where there are fast charge points in the seafront car park. But Hastings is 11 miles away, so the return trip of 22 miles would need replenishing before we even started to add to the car's remaining range.

So instead, with the help of the hotel's obliging manager, the car is now hooked up to a power point in the basement, using the long charge cable that Tesla supplies, threaded in through a basement window. Charging from a 13 amp plug is a slow process at around seven miles of range added per hour, so it is going to take a long time. Just as well that a change in the weather, now very wet and windy, means that we're not in a hurry to go anywhere.
