Nothing is worth more

Just back from an afternoon helping at a local primary school. One of the things I do there is work with the eco teacher. Today we were planting spring onion seeds under make do cloches (recycled plastic bottles, split open). I am always really excited by the enthusiasm of the young pupils for all things eco and especially for being the ones to go out into the 'garden' (the school only has a few planters) to get their hands dirty ....they love it and teach me a thing or two at the same time. One of the planters is home to a rather wabbit looking palm which I had thought we might pull up to make room for more planting, but the children told me lots of them use it in games as part of the imaginary backdrop of their 'world'...they would be upset to see it go... thank goodness we didnt get as far as removing it!

Still very cold, hoping the cloches and the shade of the palm under which we have placed the seed tray will be enough to protect the seeds from frost...
