Happy Birthday Lynn

Today we celebrated a fall birthday. My sister Lynn claimed her fifty-seventh with a quiet dinner followed by a few gifts.

Her continued failings made it less celebratory than in the past. She no longer can open her own gifts and I'm not sure how much of the event she actually comprehended.

It saddens me to be unable to make a difference. She cried after our meal and I couldn't help but think that maybe on some level she recognizes the changes ...my mother's passing and her continued decline have crumbled our family's anniversaries and traditions ...and yet I have to take the next step and lead with a smile.

Only by God's grace, only by surrendering can I face what tomorrow holds.

Pray on...
