Museums in the 21st century

Popped into the National Museum of Scotland, a favourite from years and years ago. I was struck by the welcoming and interactive nature of museums today - they have always been fascinating, but open invitations to touch the Fifeshire basalt columns is a new thing to see, for me at any rate. Museums to be felt, enjoyed, rather than merely looked at from a distance.
