Vergelegan - What a view!

This morning the sun shone, the sky was blue, it was 27C and we decided to go up the the Table Mountain chair lift. Unfortunately when we got there it appeared to be undergoing maintenance and was not running.

Not to waste the day we drove to Vergelegan ( pronunciation nothing like it is spelt!) a wine estate with a history going back to 1700 and the Dutch Governor of the Cape , Willem Adriaan van der Stel, who had a beautiful house built with this view looking through his gardens towards spectacular mountains - the Hottentots Holland range.

We then visited Waterford, a more modern wine state where some of our group indulged in a wine tasting and finally we drove to the beautiful town of Stellenbosch before heading back to Cape Town as the sun was setting.
