Dominus illuminatio mea

If you walk up the steps and in the door,
if you turn right past the brochures
and the receptionist
then tiptoe past the notices that ask you
very kindly to be quiet in the corridor
so you don’t disturb the readers
behind engraved glass
in the reading room,

if you pass the flight of stairs
down to the coffee bar
then slow to read the writing
on the wall,
if you follow the sign
to the lecture room
then you might
(if the outside
and the inside align just right
and you stay alert)
get to see the light.

Back home in time for week two of a course whose start I missed last week.
