ARE YOU SURE YOU WANT TO COMPLAIN?

The landscape in Angola is stunning,
and this is the baobab forest on the road from Huambo to Luanda.

There are many stories about this "upside-down"-tree,
and most of them includes God's anger.

The baobab was the last tree that God created. Baobab saw all the trees that already were created and wonder how it will look like. Baobab saw the slender, graceful palm tree and asked God if it could get a taller trunk. But God didn't like Baobad's attitude and gave it thick trunk.

Baobab cried, and pointed at the beautiful flame tree with gorgeous red flowers. - God, you have given me such a thick and ugly trunk, please may I have even more stunning flowers than the flame tree. God looked at Baobab and said: - Since you complain I will give you flowers. They will be beautiful white, but they will blossom just for one night a year and they will smell like death to attract insects.

Baobab cried even more, sobbed and shouted, and cried some more. - Why do you create me so ugly, please, please, please let me at least get even more magnificent fruits than the fig tree.

God gave Baobab amazing fruits called Monkey Bread, and pulled Baobab up by its roots, then replanted it upside down to keep it quiet.

So knowing this: Are you sure that it is wise to complain?!

Baobab's head is in the earth, so it can't hear that it is called Tree of Life and it is a crime to destroy. It can live for "ever" and are growing more beautiful with age. In fact it doesn't get beautiful before about 800 year. Baobab trees can store water up to 100,000 litres or (26,000 US gallons) in the trunk , and all parts of the tree can be used. People can also use the trunk as a home or shelter.
