A potted history

Impossible to give a potted history (as if you would want to, even if you could) of the Rushforth's 35 year custodianship of Le Var on Shipley Plateau that came to an end today.

It has been a great privilege to work with the family on this, and they have been a true pleasure to work with.

Here are some of Peter's everyday tools, each one a thing of beauty. For those not in the know, Peter Rushforth is a living national treasure, not just here, but also in Japan (Peter was a Japanese POW), and Australia's foremost studio ceramicist. He is now 94, and did his last firing at Le Var in 2012.

It was a difficult day for them today, but a really great result. The number of people that have lined up to make this such a success is testament to the esteem in which both he and his charming wife Bobby are held.

The property was auctioned, the actual auction went for a mammoth 45 minutes.

It was actually an extraordinary afternoon and a privilege to be part of.
