My Life in A&E

By gilvratina

Wednesday is telescope day!

Dragged myself out into the 100 degree heat to meet the astronomers and join in the trip to the Sardinia Radio Telescope. Before that though, we were taken to this other place which was a bit like a sort of tiny conference centre but in the middle of nowhere. Lunch was provided in the form of a buffet of local stuff, overseen by women in traditional dress. Lots of cured meats....and some other stuff, so that was ok. The red wine was very good and plentiful.

After lunch there were some talks during which I knitted. Some may see that as rude, but as merely a groupie of the astronomical community, I felt little compulsion to pretend.

We were then bussed to the telescope, it was moved for us and then we left and returned to Cagliari.

Dinner and the Cuban bar were the order of the evening. We saw the grumpy man, who may, or may not have been selling drugs to "the youths" sitting up the street.

Ah, Mediterranean life!
