Saturday treat

Baby squid is an easy dish to prepare for a Saturday evening treat. And inexpensive!
As a last minute arrangement we invited dear friend and near neighbour John Cooper to join us for dinner. We had a half kilo of baby squid, thawed from the freezer and the rest was easy. A few new potatoes, sliced tomato, red onion and shallot, with a generous splash of extra virgin olive oil, italian pepper and sea salt. And a green salad with lots of chopped red onion and a half yellow pepper, And of course Balsamic - a rather special one this!
Gently sauté the squid cut into rings, with generous helpings of chopped garlic and include heads and tentacles, turning up the heat towards serving time, and finally sprinkle with chopped parsley.
Hey presto! A Saturday evening treat which both us and our guest enjoyed. Accompanied by a glass of Bordeaux!
Wow! A magnificent out-of-the ordinary Saturday evening dish! Cost? Minimal - two tomatoes, one lettuce, a few new potatoes and £2.45 worth of squid or calamari as it most likely would be named on a restaurant menu.
Come to think of it we might eat at this place again!
Buon appetito.
