The Life Of Ponty Cyclops

Pontypridd v London Scottish - BIC Cup

A sunny afternoon at Sardis and an impressive win over London Scottish.

It is British & Irish Cup time again. This was a big test for Ponty, as we were playing outside the bubble of the Welsh Premiership. Our team was bolstered by several regional players drafted into the team. Some old faces returned, and a few that probably never thought they would ever be seen in a Ponty shirt! All acquitted themselves brilliantly.

The final score was 23-17, which flattered Scottish to be honest. We had three glorious clear cut chances in the first half where the final ball just didn't go to hand. The steam went out of the game a bit in the second half, with injuries and substitutions disrupting the flow of the game.

I chose this photo as despite the rumblings and grumblings on social media and message boards about Cardiff players playing for us, and there's too much Blue in the shirt, this man, Wayne O' Connor sums up semi-professional rugby. Thirty six years old and indefatigable! He played himself to a stand-still, and I have to be honest he is probably my favourite all time Ponty player! An role model to anyone in the game who cares about playing for their team.

I managed to escape the heavy rain .. all in all a hugely successful day!
