Mackintosh at The Glad Cafe

Part of the Creative Mackintosh Festival taking place during the month of October.

It was also part of Le Weekend at the Glad Cafe. We sang songs by Serge Gainsbourg and Edith Piaf, accompanied by Le Grande Zaza, visiting from Monpellier.

An excellent talk by Roger Billcliffe, about Mackintosh's work from 1914 onwards, his drawings and paintings in the south of England and the south of France. Images of CRM's work projected on screen, and Roger bringing them alive. Interesting to learn that many of the locations were a short distance from a railway route. My favourite work featured was The Lighthouse (at Port Vendres) 1927.

With thanks to Craig, Rachel and Joe Smillie for another memorable event at The Glad Cafe. I must check this, but I expect it was Craig who created this poster, which was situated up high on the Cafe wall, so not easy for me to take the shot.
