Southland Spirit

Today was the Cross Country Run and Walk at the South Island Masters Games. The event was held in the Scenic Reserve and had a mean hill about 900m into the 7.5km course which had some competitors walking and running like upside down L's. This man is from Tisbury, Invercargill and won a medal in the walk. He is in the 60+ age group. He was elated when he finished the Cross Country and its more of the participation than winning at these games.
Quote of the day from one of the finishers. My belly crossed the line first,it's been in front of me all the way.
