Past It

This umbrella has had enough : it has given up the ghost and is now a 'has been umbrella', or a 'past it' umbrella.

There can be no shame attached to its demise. It probably served its owner faithfully over the last difficult 12 weeks and is now happy to collapse on the wet pavement in the wind and driving rain, perhaps remembering days long ago when the sun beat down on its furled pleats and it could relax without having to stretch out and be battered by nature. It will now join its fellow stricken brollies in some ghastly land fill site - what a pity.

Indeed it is a day to be inside doing useful things like cleaning the castle..... or maybe that's a bit energetic and I will opt for relaxing on the sofa and start reading the new book group book, although having seen its thick size, small print and lack of pictures to help me along, I may well resort to dusting.
