'neath the spreading (horse) chestnut tree

Years ago a number of old gravestones were removed from Whittington Churchyard and laid horizontally in the Garden of Remembrance opposite. Many of the inscriptions are undecipherable though some can still be read very clearly.
A number of the headstones are underneath a horsechestnut tree so get covered in conkers and leaves in autumn.
