Must see . . .

Before we came to Jersey everybody said "you must see the Jersey War Tunnels" so as a wet day was forecast it seemed like a good idea.
The Jersey War Tunnel complex tells the amazing story of Jersey under German occupation during World War II. The tunnels extend over 1km underground and were dug by forced and slave labour. They are now filled with a very full account of those extraordinary times and the daily dilemmas faced by the islanders.
We were nearly two hours underground, absorbing this amazing story.
Afterwards we went into St Helier, the island capital. It is a much bigger town than we expected and we didn't stay long!
Back now in our cosy hotel, ready for a cup of tea.
