Koru.

The shape of an unfurling fern frond is called a "koru". In Maori art this shape is often used as the symbol of creation. It's circular shape conveys the idea of perpetual movement and it's inward coil suggests a return to the point of origin. To most of us New Zealanders it is a special and almost sacred shape.
