Not A Steam Train

I live near the main Cambridge to London Liverpool Street railway line and whilst preparing lunch heard the sound of a steam train, alas, it did not blow its whistle until it had gone past so there was no opportunity to photograph it. Only those passengers waiting for their train on the platform would have seen it. In the past, ‘special steam days’ took place along this line and steam trains regularly travelled along this route; times were known in advance so there were many photographic opportunities. Now we only get an odd one or two a year and have no idea when they will be using the line. Florence who was on a high vantage point saw it, as did Dougal who dashed back to the house from the upper part of the garden. I saw the last carriages, smelt the coal and saw some smoke!

I wanted to do a red balloon so that I could join the Blipfoto tenth anniversary party, but having no balloons, red or otherwise in the house and with no inclination to drive to the shops, improvisation was necessary.

This picture was photographed on my computer screen so you may see some Moiray fringing. Thank you Virgin, the photograph contains the original title and the copyright remains with the original photographer and with Virgin.
