Kachetis Hangebi

This female voice choir from Telawi in Georgia gave a concert in town on Saturday night. Unfortunately the lighting made it difficult to take a good picture, but their dresses are black with silver sparkles. I thought that they looked even more striking against the backdrop of the black stage curtains. Georgian polyphonic singing is on UNESCOs list of world cultural heritage. It's stunning. This choir performed the first half of the concert, the boys church choir gave the second half and at the end the two choirs sang two Mozart pieces together - in Latin. The final song was a canon (Cantate Domino omnis terra). The conductor spread the two choirs around the hall in groups of 5 or 6 so the audience was encircled and then they sang - we were in the middle of the music. It brought tears to my eyes.
