Holy Island

Well, paid the price for the hill walking decadence of yesterday;
We were in the hills again today but this time to take measurements and stake out markers for the client. It was mild, misty and very wet. My supposed water proof jacket pocket (where I carry my compact camera) had a puddle in it. We still had to climb about a thousand feet but the underfoot conditions were often boggy and soft. Everyone over topped their boots at some stage.
Upon completion and reloading the car the clock suggested there may be time to catch the second last boat of the day for Claonag. We didn’t get changed at all and a brisk but totally legal drive allowed us to catch that boat with about 4 minutes to spare. It’s a small drive on drive off ferry with capacity for maybe 8 vehicles. We were one of three. Once on board I stood at the back of the car and did an almost complete change of clothing, had a hot drink from the flask and felt much better. At Claonag you think your home because you are back on the mainland but there is still about three hours of driving to go.
It’s good to be home tonight.

The picture was taken as we descended from our survey site and the mist lifted a little bit. This is Holy Island, just of Arran and the village of Lamlash.
