Pinoccio moth

Another moth having an extended season with this mild weather is the Snout. The enormous snout is actually formed from long upturned palps. This protuberance leads to the Latin name Hypena proboscidalis. It is normally a warm brown colour, but the autumn generation is more grey. Looking forward to more species with a few mild nights forecast.
