Imogen getting to grips with Yarnbombing

Happy Birthday Blipfoto - Congratulations.

It has been another busy day here at Mackintosh Queen's Cross, with the second day of the Glasgow School of Yarn.

This morning at the Knit Wild stand I met up with Imogen (who is only 4½) and her mum having fun creating some fabulous designs for a community knitting project. Knit Wild is based in the North Kelvinside/Maryhill area of Glasgow. It is connected with community group The Children’s Wood. The big idea is to make wild and woolly creations to install as a yarnbomb at the North Kelvin Meadow.

I now know what yarnbombing is all about?
For the uninitiated it is also known as guerilla knitting, knit graffiti, and yarn-storming, yarnbombing is the practice of decorating public places with knit and crochet. The purpose might be as a community arts activity, fundraising initiative, political activism, or just a humorous way to brighten up the streets and make the world a little bit more cosy.
