Weston Park in the Dark

We've been to Weston Park for most of the day and stayed for the Night Flying model aeroplane spectacular and spectacular it was too featuring some world class display pilots using both Helicopter and Fixed aircraft with laser/ strobe lighting and pyrotechnics attached to the aircraft. Our favourite was the real sailplane aerobatic glider (like Mr. T flies) which was towed up a few times during the day and gave fabulous displays and sometimes with a spectator who I'm sure didn't fully anticipate being part of the show by flying upside down, inside out and looping the loop many times. The commentator hoped the person hadn't had a full meal before entering the Glider!!

The glider did its final show just after sunset. It was all lit up and was towed up to 3,000 feet by the tug plane, also all lit up; once the cable was released the glider started to execute the most awesome light display discharging fireworks from its wings and accompanied by stunning fireworks from below - I couldn't do justice to the display sadly, can't cope with speed and low light!! To have a taste of the real thing go to Weston Park in the Dark Facebook page.

We've really enjoyed our day despite the rather cool and windy conditions in the evening and can do with a nice hot cuppa now and a warm bed.
