Husband 1 : Pear tree 0

So one minute you tell Current Husband that you're pondering the idea of taking out a rather boring ornamental tree and putting something more interesting in its place, and the next you find yourself catching flying branches...

I thought I had decided what would be going in this space: so dark and dismal, I said decisively, that it would need to be an aucuba. But now it transpires that without the canopy of the weeping pear, it's not all that dark a corner after all.
