The magical kawakawa leaf

Out walking the dog at midday and the light was too strong for most shots. In a dappled shady glade I found this KawaKawa tree (Macropiper excelsum) looking pretty. Kawakawa plays an important role in Maori customs, rituals and herbal medicine.

It's also used in a highly recommended NZ beer called TaaKawa. Don't know about the medicinal properties of the beer but after a hot day tramping in the bush it's ideal!
