A Collector of Oddities

By MinBannister

We ended up in Birnam and Dunkeld for a few days more or less accidentally since there appeared to be no room at Inns anywhere else we looked.

It turned out it was a good job we went as my husband kept talking about an antique shop there that he was keen to go to. When we arrived there was a big sign outside saying it was about to close due to retirement! When we went in, more or less the first thing we spotted was this set of books about the life of Walter Scott. It is full of letters he wrote and everything. It was also rather expensive and heavy but thanks to a very generous discount from the owner who was pleased to see them go to someone who would enjoy them rather than get carted off by a wholesale dealer as they were due that very weekend, plus the generous offer from my husband to carry them home for me, I am now the proud owner of these books and look forward to reading them immensely. (wow, that was a huge sentence)

Very happy though!
