Only 65 Shopping Days Left 'Til Christmas.....

Here's a sneak preview of the Oxford Street Christmas lights for 2014. For the past 55 years there has traditionally been an annual display along the most famous street of shops in the UK, helping to bring a Christmassy atmosphere to the stores while shoppers look for presents and party outfits. The theme this year is falling snowflakes, and it features 1,778 baubles and 750,000 energy-efficient LED bulbs.

We are promised that celebrity presenters and star performers will take to the stage at the flagship John Lewis store on Thursday 6th November, as the Christmas lights are switched on. There will also be music from an up-and-coming act chosen from the Talent Starts Here competition. The switching-on festivities always attract a huge crowd of shoppers, with Oxford Street being closed even to buses and taxis.

And then the real nightmare fun starts for those of us who work in the area and want to pop to the shops quickly in our lunch hour.....
