A little bit different

Today was unusual in that it included several extraordinary moments such as learning from the vet that Caroline's blood work shows that she is pre-diabetic which may explain her recent lethargy - we must now be careful about her diet - she is, after all, at least fifteen years old; an interview with one of the visiting Accreditation team - yes, the school is currently being observed, investigated, reviewed, interviewed, assessed and evaluated as the final stage of the official accreditation process that started last year); a regular Department Heads meeting irregularly attended by members of the Accreditation Team, and the day closed with the weekly fish barbecue on Konak Terrace but for the first time the whole mean was cooked and eaten in the dark - not easy with fish - so don't know how long it will continue as winter cometh - and finally, most very specially extraordinary, listening to my Turkish colleagues rehearsing for the Ataturk Day Ceremony (10th November). The instrument partially pictured and played by my friend Deniz is the long necked Turkish string instrument called the Yayli Tambur (meaning Tambur played with a bow - here and here)
