After a false start and a self-directed detour due to a road closure not being signposted early enough, we were off up the A9.  Destination - the Black Isle which of course is not an isle at all.  The road north was relatively quiet (unlike the road south).  We stopped in Newtonmore for lunch and to stretch our legs, then carried on. We reached our destination in good time, got access to our holiday cottage at the allotted time and settled ourselves in.  We had a very quick explore before heading to the very friendly local chip shop to get tea.  One assistant told me all about the places he had worked in Scotland – most of which I have never been to, while the other told me the fish had been landed at Scrabster at 4.30am.  It was very fresh and very delicious.  We enjoyed out fish suppers, then settled down to Strictly and Dr Who.  A good start to the holiday.

Here is BB looking at a mosaic on Newtonmore Hall.  He is pointing out (while informing me) that the shinty boots are Nike.  Great to see the swoosh captured in mosaic!
