Cats by the Fire

The Cat and Fiddle is the second highest pub in England (at 515m), and today at least, felt like the bleakest. The idea was to go for a walk on the Pennines, but we weren't dressed for the biting cold - so had a warm whiskey by the fire instead...

Then - oh joy - came upon a huge independent bookshop - Brierlow Bar, on the road to Ashbourne. My husband's ploy to get me out as quickly as possible was to not let me have lunch till I'd left... Never has a bacon and sausage bap tasted so good.

It actually felt good to return to not-sunny-but-at-least-warmer Sutton Coldfield.
