tree bark and fungi

This is from a tree in Sibley Volcanic Regional Preserve. We're having a brief break in the rain and warm sunny weather, a perfect day for hiking. Not a lot of flowers out yet, and the newts seem to have moved on, but there was plenty to see, including a number of birds and a few mushrooms. On Tuesday, another rain storm is supposed to hit our area.
