Opa!

We have arrived at the Greek Wedding. Tonight was the rehearsal. Dinner was held after on the third floor of O'Callaghan's Pub downtown Chicago. After some delicious Chicago style pizza, the bride and groom passed out gifts to their attendants. Jim received a framed Prince record with a cut-out of the Minneapolis skyline. There really could not been a more appropriate gift given Jim and Greg's history of record collecting.

After the gifts, Sophia's Godson turned on the Greek music for the practice dancing. Once the Greek women got their Greek island dancing styles aligned, they pulled all the Minnesotans into the circle. Sophia's father turned out to be quite an accomplished Greek dancer and we all enjoyed watching him dance around a white napkin.

I maxed out my camera's ISO to get some shots. This one was my favorite. I think it shows why these two are perfect for each other. Greg, with his droopy jeans, hanging chain and artist's style on one side of the circle complimented with Sophia's high powered yet trendy and sexy heels. Her grace, his shuffle. They hold each other's hands above the frame. The circle is completed by all the people who's significance in their lives have brought them together. Directly across from them is the friend who is to be their koumbara. The Koumbara is more than a Maid of Honor. She is also a religious sponsor for them in their marriage to each other. Seemed fitting that she should be in the space between them given her role of support.
