Boundary Dwellers

Nooks and crannies

Edinburgh is, like every city, under enormous pressure to build more housing, and offices, and hotels, and retail space.

In the Old Town, sites are few and far between and for the most part with small and/or awkwardly shaped footprints. This forces the architects to exercise a little imagination.

Sadly, the owners of the one large site available have permission for something unimaginative (going by the publicity), and apparently 'not bad enough' to be turned down, even within this World Heritage site.
