Whither the prevailing wind ?

You will need a magnifying glass and an enlarged version of the image to see what I am getting at in my enigmatic title., though it was the thing that caught my eye. The hawthorn bush veers to the left indicating a north easterly prevailing wing while the distant smoke from the cement works chimney is flowing from right to left under the wind from the south west, which is, in fact, the prevailing wind in this area of the country and it was certainly blowing fiercely in that direction today. The bush which is growing on these inner dunes is protected from the prevailing wind by the dunes and the fir tree woodland beyond in John Muir Country Park and therefore the only wind it ever feels is that blowing in northwards from the sea which although it is only occasional can be really strong and fierce. That’s why it is growing towards the right. The other aspect of the scene was the silveriness of the backlit marram grass which is nicely captured in this mono version.
