Not even the gas man could stop us from enjoying the most glorious Autumn day. We met, later than planned, in Richmond Park with deer and gaggles of sandy, bare-toed, liberated children on half term, including our own tribe and A's first celebrity "friendship" with an equally wild boy (who turned out to be Fearne Cotton's son).

Here's A with the Bellamores. E, out of shot, was baking sand cakes and watching the other children carefully, bemoaning why I wouldn't let her strip naked!

We incentivised the haul up the hill with cake, naturally, and it was timed beautifully as the sun began to set, we bundled the children into the cars, homeward bound. I'm sure we'll all sleep contentedly tonight.
