Day Two -clue two

Here we are with some typical architecture for the area. These covered balconies are so attractive but this one is unusual in that it wraps right around the corner.
Have another guess as to where you think I am - there were some great ideas from yesterday!! And if Salford quays look like this I am off there for my hols next year!!!!

We had decided not to rush out this morning as we are here to relax and after a very short night before leaving home a gentle start was on our cards. However, the hotel had other ideas. We were woken at 6.15 by a very loud fire alarm. It rang for a few moments. Enough time for me to realise we needed to get up and pay attention. Then it stopped before restarting. We both got dressed and checked the exits on the door. We looked out of our room, no sign of smoke. The alarm stopped. Unsure if it was a practice or not we tried ringing the reception. There was no answer so we headed out towards the fire exit (6th floor). We met two people coming up saying they had got to the ground floor but it was flooded so they couldn't get out! They were checking the other exit! The lifts were not working but they had been told to stay in their room. So we went back into ours. A short time later I heard voices and went out to see if we could find out more. Two older ladies very out of breath reported that they had gone down the same fire stairs and there was considerable flooding on the ground floor. They got out (and they got wet) but in order to get back in they went to the reception where they said the ceiling had come down in the foyer and there was a huge flood but there was nothing to worry about so we flopped back to bed and waited for breakfast at 7am by which time we hoped the lifts would be restored. They were and we went down expecting to find a disaster area - nothing. Well, nearly nothing a sprinkler had clearly been spraying and there was a little blistering on the ceiling round it and several men on ladders and milling about. Drama over! Breakfast running as if nothing had happened - hurrah!!

Wonderful day out discovering lots about the history of the area. Heading out for supper soon (if we can work out where the bus goes from to get there!

Happy Tuesday all!!
