Babies

Roz was supposed to be going down to Kelso today to see her granny. Unfortunately she has been floored with a cold for over a week that now seems to have turned into a chest infection. There was far too much risk of giving th eillness to her granny for her to go down. It's been serious enough for Roz, at her grans age th eeffects of it don't bear thinking about.

Anyway, if she was heading down she was also supposed to pop in for her friend Evanna who's cat has just had kittens. We are intending on getting one of the kittens, although we are still debating whether it would be better to get two so at least they each have a playmate. If we only get one we are wanting a boy and out of the five kittens in the litter there is only one boy going spare. This is him, since Roz couldn't make it down Evanna emailed us a photo. The ginger one behind him is also a boy but Evanna is keeping him. At the moment they are all two days old, so it is a while before we have a new member of the household (or two).

If we do get two the other will obviously be a girl. I'd like to call them Bebop and Lula, but I don't think I'll be getting my way.

On another note we have come up with a new culinary delicacy (new to us anyway.) For those of you not familiar with Scottish cuisine we have chip shops that sell just about anything that can be thrown in a deep fat fryer, usually with chips (fries to any Americans reading this), although in the case of things like deep fried mars bar just dipped in batter and hauled in the fryer. A particular favourite is deep fried pizza. They are a delicacy but usually leave you feeling horrible as the bread in them acts like a sponge and soaks up loads of fat which is neither pleasant or healthy. Fortunately we have now discovered a solution, get them to coat the pizza in batter before frying it (something which the chip shops don't normally do.) The benefit is that the batter provides a barrier meaning that you get the great taste without all the saturated fat. You also get the added bonus of nice crispy batter on the outside. Delicious!
