Sea Shells, but Different

I used to scuba dive a lot in Lyme bay, and used to pick up these spent shell cases whenever I saw them and I have ended up with a small collection, mainly anti- aircraft apparently.
some time ago I arranged them in a kind of artistic way on the glass of a porthole I found in the sea, near Sevenstones Reef, Off the Isles of Scilly.Th porthole is thought to have come from the wreck of the SS Longships, which disappeared on Sevenstones on 22nd December 1939, so there is a war-time connection between it and the shell cases

It rests on our garden table and was soaked with heavy rain today.

I feel this subject is very apt for this year, when we remember the first world war of 100 years ago
