Knitting weather.

I can go for months over the spring and summer without picking up my knitting, but once the weather closes in and the days get shorter I feel the need to make things. Today, faced with thick mist and constant drizzle I found the ball of yarn and pattern that I'd packed and cast on a sock. I like the process and the way knitting swings between mindless and mindful, and I especially love all the little bits of paraphernalia that make it easier. Here we have stitch markers to show me where I am within a row, a row counter to show where I am length-wise, darning needles and a thing to protect points and keep the knitting from sliding off the needles.
