Pont des Arts, Paris

First day of our Parisienne workshop, and we visited Place des Vosges, the Seime, the Arc de Triomphe and ended the day at the Louvre. When we did the recce for the trip last year, I posted some of the most obvious Paris pics, including the Louvre and the Arc de Triomphe, but I went with the more abstract arty side this year, with this close up of a padlock on the Pont des Arts, crossing the Seine to the Isle de la Cite. The thousands of padlocks now attached to this bridge whilst testament to many lovers undying love to each other are overloading the bridge to a dangerous extent, with estimates of around 700,000 locks attached to the bridge and almost 70 tonnes of weight! It's likely that they will be cut off the bridge soon, so I thought it appropriate to blip it.

I have posted more pics from day one on Flickr, hope you like them.
