Magpie Inkcap

My sister and I had a lovely walk at BBOWT's Warburg Nature Reserve deep in the Chilterns and didn't see a soul. The autumn colours are beginning to get more intense and there is a scattering of fascinating fungi. In this case it is a solitary Magpie Inkcap, a fungus regularly found in the leaf litter in beech woods on chalk or limestone, but never very frequent.
